S-10 to V8 Conversion Advice. Just thought I would write some info I have learned over the last 2 years of owning a v8 s-10. First off, I did not do the origional conversion on my truck, but I did swap engines and made some upgrades. Probably around $500 in parts not counting the engine....I have lots of $ in little parts that came up.... but you can get the motor mounts and headers for $200. IV EVER LOW. Step 9. Place the radiator in the front of the engine. Insert the bolts and tighten using the socket wrench. Mount the aftermarket exhaust kit to the headers and attach it to the body of the vehicle. There are a few factory optioned S10s and Blazers out there that came with the 8.5 ring gear vs the typical 7.5 but they are rare enough that they are pretty pricey for a rear end that still needs work.
