Aug 18, 2022 · There have been many discussions about problems where a CD player is said to skip. I think the real term is drops out. My Bose Wave skips/drops out when the CD Player is first started. Then, over time, it plays longer and longer before dropping out, and finally after a few minutes it plays normally. but only if the CD is not stropped. Customer: Our Bose radio/CD player will not play CDs (radio works fine). Disc goes in ok, then it says "Reading Disc" for about 15 seconds, then it says "Disc Unreadable" or something like that. The 'repair' was for Bose to sell you an updated, new system with a slight discount ( which I found I could get online, anyway). I tried cd cleaners, no fix. I finally got the idea, since some players are mounted vertically, etc., to insert a cd, lift up the unit and slant it 45 degrees....voila! It took the cd, and now works perfectly fine ...
